The Bolles School seeks a dynamic, inspirational leader to serve as the next Head of the Middle School Bartram campus. The ideal candidate will leverage the strengths of the more than 50 faculty and staff to continue to build on our culture of excellence and tradition. The Middle School Head reports to the Associate Head of School and is a member of the Schools Administrative Team. This position will commence with the 2021-22 academic year. Bolles proudly employs over 400 full-time, part-time, and seasonal faculty, staff, coaches and administrators. Serving over 1,600 students on our four campuses in Grades Pre-K through 12, Bolles has a history rich in tradition and achievement that extends to our hiring practices and the professionalism and respect garnered in the independent school community. Bolles' middle school students continue to develop their identities and build their independence under the guidance of caring faculty and advisors. On the Bolles Bartram Campus, more than 400 students learn responsibility, decision-making, and time management as they explore All Things Possible in an environment with their peers. The middle school curriculum encourages students expanding interests while they further hone their study habits and are well-prepared to take on the challenges and decisions of upper school. The programs offered in middle school begin to take on a more demanding pace for which the faculty works to prepare students. Higher concepts in each subject are introduced by faculty specializing in that subject. All subjects are sequential to become more in-depth with progressive grade levels. Purpose: Implements, supervises, monitors, and oversees all middle school programs and operations, Grades 6 through 8. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university
- Previous experience as a school administrator, preferably in an independent school, required; three years or more experience in key educational leadership roles
- Current knowledge of best practices in teaching, learning, and pedagogy
- Classroom teaching experience required
- Deep understanding of and appreciation for middle school adolescents' educational and social development needs

Key Responsibilities: - Acts as the educational leader of the middle school campus; responsible for its daily operation and ensure congruence between the School’s mission and all middle school programs and activities
- Directs the activities of the Schools instructional and non-instructional staff as well as parent/student organizations as they interact and relate to various departments within the School
- Functions as the chief articulator of Middle School programs, expectations, behavioral guidelines, and other information necessary to ensure that all constituencies are fully informed consistent with their individual roles
- Facilitates the performance achievement and development process for all faculty and staff on the middle school campus in conjunction with the Associate Head, Human Resources, and the Department Chairs
- Analyzes and determine appropriate strategies that enhance the school’s climate and support student engagement in learning
- Consults with faculty in matters of classroom management, teaching methods and general school procedures
- Collaborates with the Associate Head and Human Resources to ensure the school is staffed appropriately which includes retaining, developing, and hiring the highest caliber candidates
- Plans and supervises official parent visitation events
- Builds the middle school master class schedule and schedule students for classes
- Administers awards and honors for both middle school students and faculty
- Manages academic eligibility for middle school student participation in athletics and activities
- Provides leadership in establishing and enforcing regulations for student behavior as well as assisting in the implementation of programs designed to foster the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students
- Serves on Middle School Admission Committee and respond to outside inquiries about the middle school program
- Provides onsite supervision to the operation and maintenance of the middle school facilities including managing fire and safety programs
- In partnership with the Leadership Team, contributes to the strategic planning process, ensures financial stability and effectiveness, and arrives at administrative decisions for the proper functioning of the school
- Promotes a culture of learning that utilizes technology in meaningful and effective ways
- Fosters an environment in which diversity, equity, and inclusion are consistently practiced in all facets of the school community
