Assistant / Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice - Internal Medicine

Wilkes University invites applicants for a full time, calendar year faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice with a specialization in internal medicine in the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice. This is a tenure-track position and is fully funded by Wilkes University. Wilkes University, located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, is an independent, comprehensive university dedicated to academic excellence in the liberal arts, sciences, and selected professional programs. The School of Pharmacy has a dynamic, comprehensive and innovative approach to pharmacy education. Our mission is “To educate and develop highly qualified professionals and notably contribute to the ever-changing science and practice of pharmacy.” The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing a clinical service within an existing acute care practice at Geisinger Community Medical Center in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania area and will precept students on introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences. In addition to experiential activities, the successful candidate will participate in didactic teaching, provide service to the school, serve as a student advisor, and engage in meaningful scholarship. Didactic teaching can include both small and large classes as well as professional skills-based labs. On-campus responsibilities such as serving on school committees can be facilitated with remote access to preserve time for clinical practice activities.

Successful candidates should have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school or college of pharmacy and have completed a PGY-1 or PGY-2 residency in internal medicine or have equivalent clinical experience. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania. Excellence in teaching is the primary criteria for tenure and promotion. Applicants must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. |
