The Family Translational Research Group (FTRG) at New York University is looking for a talented, and hard-working Assistant Research Scientist with a passion for understanding and preventing family violence to join our team on a part-time basis. FTRG conducts cutting edge clinical psychology research on a wide variety of on topics ranging from defining maltreatment in ways that can be reliably used by field workers, to determining how couples' conflict dynamics relate to violence, to examining the effects of family violence on children's psychological and physical functioning, to furthering our understanding of risk and protective factors for child maltreatment and partner abuse. Our research group uses the full spectrum of research methods — from intensive behavior observation tools to epidemiological surveys. The FTRG typically has least 8-10 active federally-funded projects. The group includes several Ph.D. level psychologists and social workers, masters level researchers and counselors, and bachelor level research staff. The FTRG is co-directed by Dr. Amy M. Candidate must possess a doctorate in psychology or related field. This position requires extensive research training and experience. Experience conducting research on military families is required. Excellent writing required. If degree is in a clinical field, clinical experience focused on parenting, couples issues, or maltreatment is required. Extensive experience with qualitative research methods is required. Fluency in typical computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and qualitative research packages, is required.
