The College of Agriculture is seeking an Associate Dean of Research. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, Tenured Administrator, professional faculty position.
The Associate Dean for Research (ADR) is a member of a senior administrative leadership team in the College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) consisting of the Dean, Executive Associate Dean, and three other Associate Deans. Together, they are responsible for executive functions, including policy development, strategic planning and, with the unit administrators, for managing, administering, and coordinating the operations of the CAS, and the Oregon Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Agriculture and Natural Resources program of the OSU Extension Service. With other members of the administrative team, the ADR has responsibilities relating to personnel, program, and budget management, promoting communication and cooperation, and otherwise advancing the integration of education, extension, and research programs of the CAS. The ADR's focus is to provide leadership needed to advance the research mission. In addition to the ADR's role in leadership of the CAS overall, the ADR oversees the research enterprise of the CAS, a major contributor to the research portfolio of Oregon State University and the State of Oregon. The CAS' research spans the life and environmental sciences, as well as physical, mathematical, as statistical sciences. Research is based in unbiased inquiry and a dedication to discovery and innovation. Typically requires Ph.D. or terminal degree in related field. Tenure/tenure-track faculty member.
PhD in a science discipline related to the College's mission.
Must qualify for the rank of Professor with tenure in an appropriate academic unit in the College of Agricultural Sciences at OSU.
Experience equivalent with the rank of Professor, within the CAS, and graduate faculty status in the Graduate School at OSU.
A record of outstanding scholarship and success in external grantsmanship.
Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse faculty and staff, university groups, and external funding agencies.
Excellent communication skills.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self- report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months. This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions (as per Voluntary and Compulsory Driver Standards OAR 125-155-0200) as per OAR 576-056-0000 et seq.
This position requires frequent travel by car across the state of Oregon to visit College faculty and stakeholders, often requiring an overnight stay. Other official business travel as appropriate.
