Northfield Mount Hermon seeks a creative, mission-driven, student-centered educator with significant expertise in residential life and administration. The Dean of Students leads the school’s residential life team while also playing a critical role in shaping and guiding school culture. Reporting to the Associate Head, the Dean of Students sustains high community standards and NMH values of humanity and purpose, inclusivity and service to others. The Dean of Students collaborates across the campus to engage, inspire and ground all NMH students through an intentional residential life program, and additionally directs community-building, campus activities, student housing, discipline and attendance systems.
The successful applicant will hold a Master's degree in educational administration or a related field; 7-10 years residential and/or equivalent administrative experience, preferably in a boarding school at the secondary level; must include supervisory and budgetary responsibilities. Candidates should possess superior organizational, communication, and decision-making skills including attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and in a timely manner; ability to administer policies fairly and consistently. Additional qualifications include excellent written and verbal communication skills and superb interpersonal skills that include a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and creatively. Proficiency with Google systems and familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred. Ability to work flexible hours including weekend and evening work required.
