We prepare courageous leaders and mental health practitioners to assume prominent roles in effecting positive change in clients, students, families, and communities in local and global contexts.
Position Assistant Professor (K-12 Educational Leadership) Department of Leadership and Counseling at Eastern Michigan University General Summary The Department of Leadership and Counseling is seeking applicants for a tenure track faculty position with specialization in K-12 Educational Leadership to begin in August 2021. Faculty members are expected to focus on teaching, scholarship, and service as well as collaborate with colleagues across the university. The candidate will be expected to teach and mentor graduate students in an online environment and engage in doctoral level work, chairing and serving on dissertation committees. Eastern Michigan University is located in Ypsilanti, adjacent to Ann Arbor and 45 minutes from downtown Detroit. The Educational Leadership Program within the Department of Leadership and Counseling offers an undergraduate LEAD minor, three distinct master-level program tracks for aspiring educational leaders, and a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Educational Leadership. The K-12 masters level programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) as well as being approved by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) for administrative certification and central office endorsement. This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between EMU and the EMU Chapter of the American Association of University Professors, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment. The successful candidate will serve an eight-month, tenure track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank. A competitive salary will be based on qualifications and prior experience. Eastern Michigan University may consider up to two years of credit for service at another institution at the Assistant Professor rank. The start date should be no later than August 29, 2021.
