Job Description: SENIOR ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION Brown Universityâ™s Division of Biology and Medicine â“ composed of The Warren Alpert Medical School (AMS) and the Program in Biology invites applications and nominations for a Senior Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Reporting to the Dean of Medicine and Biological Sciences/Senior Vice President for Health Affairs at AMS with a dotted line to the Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity of the entire campus, the Senior Associate Dean is a core member of the Division of Biology and Medicineâ™s senior leadership team. The Senior Associate Dean provides specific leadership, oversight, and strategic vision for policies and initiatives to promote an inclusive and equitable learning and working environment for students, medical trainees, faculty and staff. In this critical position, the Senior Associate Dean will assist in leading efforts to ensure that Brownâ™s Division of Biology and Medicine is a local and national leader in centering equity and racial justice in academic medicine and biological sciences with the ultimate goal of positively impacting the delivery of patient care and training of scientists to address health disparities. The Senior Associate Dean works with AMS, the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED), the Program in Biology and affiliated clinical partners to ensure that diversity and equity are high level priorities and collaboratively works across organizational systems to implement effective policies and initiatives. The Senior Associate Dean oversees the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs (ODMA) at the medical school, supporting a coordinated leadership model. The mission of ODMA is to create a learning and training environment that fosters equity, diversity an inclusivity within AMS. Additionally, the position develops key relationships with Clinical Departments and Basic Science Departments within the Division of Biology and Medicine, the Office of the General Counsel, BioMed Human Resources, the Office of Women in Medicine and Science, the Office of BioMed Faculty Administration, the Offices of Medical Education and Student Affairs at AMS and the affiliated hospitals.
