IU Health Physicians and IU School of Medicine seek a highly accomplished physician executive to lead this diverse and dynamic academic faculty practice plan. The new President of IU Health Physicians will also serve as the Executive Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at IU School of Medicine, operating as the primary liaison between the health system and medical school whose faculty make up the majority of the practice plan. This position provides an outstanding opportunity for an experienced physician executive to lead a progressive clinical organization that encompasses specialized tertiary referral, interdisciplinary primary care and community-based practices. As providers of care for more than 900,000 unique patients across Indiana annually, IU Health Physicians has made substantial commitments to destination services as well as risk-based and population health models of care, including IU Health Plans and a next generation accountable care organization. With accountability to, and in close collaboration with, the IU Health Physicians Board of Directors, IU Health Chief Medical Executive, and IU School of Medicine Dean, the President will maintain the vision and mission for the organization that will provide comprehensive health services to the area and region. The position will also ensure that the vision and mission are articulated in a meaningful long-range strategic plan that contains measurable goals and objectives. The primary leadership responsibilities of the President and Executive Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs include:
Overseeing the activities of the management of the Corporation and providing medical input to administrative matters;
Ensuring clinical care, both in clinic and hospital settings, provides optimal clinical outcomes, addresses healthcare inequity, optimizes quality and safety, and meets system goals including access, patient experience and workforce development;
Working with health system partners to ensure progressive and effective patient care delivery systems with IU Health, IU School of Medicine, affiliated hospitals, and clinical departments;
Administrative leadership to practice group management team;
IU Health Physician's budget and planning process;
Development, ongoing update, and execution of a strategic plan for IU Health Physicians;
Advising the IU Health Physicians Board Chair and assisting in agendas for meetings of the Board;
Supporting the clinical, education, and research mission of IU School of Medicine and IU Health
Process and quality improvement;
Ensuring a positive learning and work environment with a strong focus and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion;
Overseeing the operations and strategic growth of the newly formed Cancer, Neurosciences, and Cardiovascular Institutes in partnership with the President of the Adult Academic Health Center. The rank and appointment type of this position would require an MD or equivalent (e.g., DO, MBBS, etc), with eligibility for licensure and practice in the State of Indiana. We are looking for applicants with evidence of leadership and outstanding academic credentials such as a track record of extramural research funding; academic experience appropriate for the rank of Associate Professor or Professor; and experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred qualifications include MBA, MHA, and/or Lean Six Sigma training and experience managing a group practice.
