The Houghton College Admission Office strives to inspire prospective students and parents to choose Houghton through personalized, authentic, and compelling outreach within a Christ-centered culture of continual learning, creativity, and collaboration. The Enrollment Advisor plays a vital role in fulfilling this mission. As such, the Enrollment Advisor is uniquely positioned to impact and influence future Houghton Highlanders from the point of application file completion through the decision to enroll. The Advisor primarily serves Houghton’s residential campus, but may also be called upon to assist with online students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES:
Serve as a vital member of a highly-collaborative, team-oriented admission office
Cultivate relationships with applicants and families
Consistently strive to meet and exceed enrollment goals and objectives
Focus on students from point of application file completion through enrollment decision
Serve as liaison to select academic departments
Recruit students within a geographic territory
Advise prospective students on decisions related to major, career, etc.
Evaluate applications for admission and make recommendations to the Admission Committee
Assist with on-campus events and represent Houghton at select off-campus events
Partner with faculty, staff, and students in the recruitment process
Work collaboratively with other recruitment staff and student interns
Partner with alumni admission ambassadors
Perform other duties as assigned
Computer and software proficiency skills, including but not limited to the Microsoft Office suite
Excellent oral, written, and presentational skills
Valid driver’s license
Ability to lift 20 pounds; sedentary work; sitting for extended periods
Evening and weekend work required including multi-day travel and admission events
Training/experience in admission, counseling/advising, sales, or relevant higher education or organizational experience
