The College of Education at Michigan State University invites applications for a fixed-term academic specialist position as Coordinator for the Urban Educator Cohort Program (UECP) in the Department of Teacher Education. This position is a full-time appointment on a 12-month basis.
The successful candidate will perform the following job duties and responsibilities:
Coordinating with the Office of Student Affairs (and possibly New Student Orientation) to recruit and welcome students into the UECP through the College of Education Colloquium and onboarding activities;
Designing and facilitating workshops for new and current UECP students that focus on academic and professional development;
Tracking student progress in meeting program requirements and matriculation through the teacher preparation program;
Coordinating first-year UECP trip to Chicago;
Advising UECP students to ensure academic and professional success;
Working with UECP Director on program evaluation and assessment.
While not a component of the UECP, the position will also include designing and implementing the Chicago Pre-Internship trip with the Chicago Area Internship Coordinator, which is open to all juniors and seniors in the teacher preparation program. Additionally, the position may include teaching responsibilities in the teacher preparation program.
