The CU College of Nursing is seeking an exceptional faculty leader to serve as the Associate Dean for Academic Programs. The ideal candidate would be qualified to hold a faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, tenure eligible with 0.40 FTE dedicated to the Associate Dean for Academic Programs administrative faculty appointment.
The University of Colorado, College of Nursing has an opening for an Associate Dean for Academic Programs. This 0.40 FTE administrative faculty appointment serves as the senior administrator overseeing the College’s baccalaureate, master’s, and DNP Programs. The Associate Dean is responsible for ensuring that academic program activities are conducted in an efficient and ethical manner, consistent with the rules and regulations of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
The Associate Dean for Academic Programs reports directly to the Dean of the College of Nursing and works collaboratively with other members of the Dean’s Council, faculty and staff.
Responsibilities of the Position
Strategic and Administrative Leadership
Articulates a compelling, inclusive vision for academic programs within the CU College of Nursing. Provides strategic leadership in developing and refining the College’s academic excellence.
Support a strong leadership team of Assistant Deans for baccalaureate, master’s and DNP programs through regular meetings and developmental opportunities.
Develops and applies measures of educational quality and quality improvement related to academic programs.
Sets standards for innovative, effective, and efficient curricula and academic programming suited to tomorrow’s learner.
Assures academic program compliance with professional accreditation and regulatory bodies in collaboration with the Director of Evaluation and Accreditation.
Leads and manages systems and policies that support academic program planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
Collaborates with inter-professional colleagues for the advancement of the University’s and College’s strategic plan for education.
Provides input as appropriate to the Sr. Associate Dean for Faculty and Students and Division Heads on faculty evaluations.
Leads and manages systems that support academic reporting to AACN/CCNE, Colorado State Board of Nursing, the University, and other accrediting, certifying, and approval bodies.
Contribute to the annual budget process and manage daily operations to remain within budgetary constraints.
In collaboration with the Dean and the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Diversity, manages student complaints or grievances through appropriate channels.
Works collaboratively with the Sr. Associate Dean for Faculty and Students, and the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Diversity in activities related to student recruitment, admissions, and implementation of student programs and policies.
Serves as liaison and facilitates the College’s representation of campus-wide committees, initiatives, and task forces related to academic programs.
Coordinates with the Instructional Design Team, the CU Online personnel and Academic Program staff to insure adequate support, training, and evaluation for faculty and students engaged in online learning in the college’s academic programs.
Reviews relevant campus, federal, and state fiscal policies and procedures related to academic programs. Provides leadership and collaboration in development of College of Nursing policies and procedures related to academic programs.
Establishes and manages positive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and appropriately represents the College of Nursing.
Contribute to the overall success of the College and University through active participation on the Dean’s Council and the strategic planning process.
Provide consistent leadership to support the College’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
Support the Dean and the Sr. Associate Dean of Faculty and Students to ensure Division Heads and faculty are trained on the development and deployment of degree plans including the designation of appropriate faculty workloads.
Creates a system of accountability through definition and reporting of quality metrics and productivity standards related to academic programs.
Ensure the timely resolution of escalations and appeals related to academic programs, while maintaining the best interests of the common stakeholders within the University policy guidelines.
Coordinate with Division Heads, Associate Dean of Finance and Director of Human Resources on contract faculty personnel planning and budgeting.
Support the College’s Diversity and Inclusion efforts.
Develop new initiatives related to the College’s strategic focus on academic excellence.
A bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
A master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
An earned doctorate in nursing or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
A distinguished record of academic scholarship.
Experience in teaching and curriculum development, preferably at all three levels of nursing education.
Evidence of effective inter-professional educational collaboration.
Qualifications commensurate with appointment as Associate or Full Professor, tenure eligible.
Eligible for licensure as an RN in the state of Colorado.
Leadership experience in academic programs; ideally obtained through 5+ years of progressive leadership experience.
An exemplary record of academic outreach/scholarship.
