Manhattan College (MC) invites applicants for a full-time, ten-month, tenure track assistant/associate professor position in our counseling programs, focusing specifically on school counseling. The school and mental health counseling graduate programs reside in the department of Counseling and Therapy. While the desired applicant would be expected to teach primarily within the School Counseling, it is expected that the applicant is comfortable teaching in the Mental Health Counseling program as well. The Counseling and Therapy department is seeking candidates whose primary responsibilities will include program advisement, teaching, scholarship and service to the school counseling program, department, School of Education & Health (SOEH) and college. The start date for the position is August, 2021.
An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited institution.
Evidence of a developing research and publication record.
Ability to work with diverse student populations and collaborate with colleagues.
A strong commitment to good teaching and experience as a school counselor.
Knowledge of the ASCA National Model (4th Ed), and CACREP 2016 standards, and the 2019 NYSED standards for school counseling programs and school counselors.
Experience with instructional technology (instructional software and Moodle and/or other virtual/remote learning platforms).
Required qualifications for the position include:
Doctorate conferred by August 1, 2021, in counselor education from a CACREP accredited institution.
The demonstration of a clear vision for scholarship.
An understanding of and commitment to the principles of social justice and educational equity.
