Involves oversight of language access services for medical interpreting/translating for the patient care staff and for Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients and their families. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws. Job Function Medical Safeguards ethical treatment, including sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care and patient rights.Supervises interpreter professionals by monitoring the quality of performance and service to limited English speaking patients. Serves as a role model for interpretation/translation practices, as well as interface with all levels of the organization and community partners. Responsible for assigned staff training, orientation, performance assessments, performance plans and all levels of disciplinary actions.
Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare administration or related area; and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
Certification from a medical interpreter school or program such as Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) or National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI).
A minimum of five (5+) or more years of relevant experience.
Experience and proven success in demonstrating solid subject matter knowledge of medical interpretation and translation services to train and guide employees on techniques.
Applies cultural knowledge and sensitivity to improve patient experience.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
