The Assistant Dean is the key management leader for the Advising and Student Support area of the College of Business Administration.
The key areas are: student outreach & recruitment, academic advising, and student success.
The Assistant Dean under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Business Administration, serves in a pivotal role in helping to achieve the collegeâ™s strategic goals to enhance the student experience and success at Texas A&M University-Central Texas.
Develops and implements recruitment, retention and student success strategies for traditional/non-traditional transfer students as well as Early College High School students
Collaborates with the University Career Development Center to ascertain strategies for career success, especially developing a robust internship program.
Oversees the advising office.
Participates and collaborates in University initiatives to integrate them within the college.
Manages and builds partnerships with community colleges including developing seamless pathways and programming for student success.
Working with department chairs and other stakeholders to develop and maintain currency in transfer pathways.
Manages unit budget and personnel.
Serves on college and university committees.
Assists the dean in special projects.
Review, evaluate, and update student organization policies, procedures, and processes.
Work with faculty, staff, and the dean to identify major-based student clubs and organizations and support their development.
Provide oversight to college-wide signature events such as New Student Orientation and Student Awards Ceremony.
Track, develop and implement a marketing and outreach plan that encourages students to become actively involved and contributes significantly to recruitment, retention and progression of students to/in the College of Business Administration.
Create a sustainable plan to keep College of Business Administration alumni engaged with their alma mater.
Masterâ™s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Six years of related senior administrative experience.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Proven success working with students, administrators and faculty.
Demonstrated experience in working with diverse populations of university students. Experience with professional personnel and budget management.
Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills are required. Experience and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Periodic work outside of standard business hours, to include evenings and weekends, may be required. Periodic travel may be required.
