Five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in higher education in the practice of University/College Student Affairs include rising levels of responsibility within the field.
Previous experience in student affairs leadership
Experience in Student Development and Academic areas;
Proven commitment to serving students in a diverse and complex community
Knowledge of FERPA, and Title IX and regional accreditation;
Proficient in assessment processes.
Doctoral degree in a related field
Seven or more years of supervision and leadership experience demonstrating increasing responsibility
Previous experience in senior student affairs leadership
Demonstrated commitment to serving students in a diverse and complex community
About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Vice Provost for Student Life, the Dean of Students provides leadership for co-curricular programs and activities that enhance campus life by promoting active student engagement while supporting diversity and inclusion and the responsible use of freedom of expression. The DOS is responsible for the strategic direction, and line management for New Student Programs, The Beauregard Center, Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, Behavioral Intervention Team/Case management, and Basic Student Needs. The DOS ensures that programs and services relate to those in other programming areas and advance the University's strategic initiatives in support of student success.
As an integral member of the Student Life Leadership Team, the DOS plays a crucial role in the development of university policy and participates in institutional planning, management, and assessment efforts. The DOS meets with students and respond to student issues and concerns and serve as advisors to Student Government and support the Parent's Council. This position will also maintain a visible presence at activities and programs; guides, supports, and evaluates unit directors and office staff; facilitates student success assessment, program review, and quality improvement; manages budgets, personnel, and other resources, and ensures compliance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations.
