Commonwealth Academy is currently seeking to hire a School/Guidance Counselor to join its team for the 2020-2021 school year. Candidates applying for this position must be prepared to work on-campus and virtually at any point during the school year.
The Commonwealth Academy Counseling Program is a comprehensive, developmental school counseling program designed to create and maintain an inclusive, safe, nurturing, and supportive climate in which students with various learning styles are empowered to engage in academic risk-taking and to achieve social success as they reach their true potential as successful learners- educationally, socially, and personally. Through character development and school/career success skills, the Counseling Program promotes the academic, emotional, and personal/social growth and development of all students as they prepare for the challenges of college, career and life pursuits, becoming lifelong learners who are contributing citizens within diverse communities. The School/Guidance Counselor collaborates with the Division Directors, Department Chairs, and Faculty to promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs.
The ideal candidate must have school counseling experience and be licensed and/or certified in school counseling. Educators who thrive in our community are those who are flexible, creative, collaborative, possess a strong work ethic, and desire to foster student success. Qualified candidates should possess strong oral and written communication skills and be proficient with technology.
A Bachelor's and Master’s degree is required, and licensure and/or certification in school counseling is highly preferred.
