HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is excited to offer a 12-month PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program. During this time, residents are involved in high-quality patient-centered care, medication use policy, leadership and practice management, project management, education of healthcare providers and trainees, and medical emergencies. The purpose of the PGY1-Pharmacy Residency is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for the medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, who are eligible for board certification as well as postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. A solid and excellent clinical and pharmacy operation foundation is developed through robust clinical experiences in areas such as internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, infectious disease, antimicrobial stewardship, teaching and clinical research. In addition, dynamic leadership and medication safety rotations are offered as well.
PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program OverviewThe program is set to tentatively start on June 28, 2021 and end on June 24, 2022. It may be modified to accommodate interests in pursuing a PGY2 or fellowship.
