Faculty in the Upper School Academic Support Department work with students in all four grade levels. Learning support and specialized instruction is provided both in person and on ZOOM, in one-to-one or small group settings. Specialized instruction is offered for students who have learning difficulties, including specific learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADHD/ADD and executive functioning weaknesses. The Academic Support team works collaboratively with teachers and student advisors to ensure that students have the appropriate accommodations in place to fulfil their potential, and access the curriculum. The Learning Support team also collaborates closely with parents, outside evaluators, doctors, and therapists to ensure appropriate education.
Support a range of students across all academic disciplines
Provide specialized instruction in curriculum areas, strategies, and executive functioning
Communicate frequently with parents through emails and formal comments to document student progress
Essential Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Education required. Degree in Special Education preferred.
Experience in Orton Gillingham, and EMpower prefered
At least three years teaching experience preferred
Proven ability to differentiate instruction, provide scaffolding, and work in multiple modalities
Facility with educational technologies
Ability to create rapport with students to create an environment of safety and acceptance
Ability to understand and implement learning profiles to meet individual student needs
