Coordinates transfer activities and advises students on academic, career, and transfer concerns. The Transfer Counselor is responsible for coordinating student transfer activities, coordinating college Joint Admissions Program activities, promoting articulation agreements and reverse transfer programs, conducting academic advisement and career counseling, and presenting workshops/information sessions to students, potential students, guidance counselors, parents, and staff.
May provide developmental advising assistance to new, returning and transfer students to integrate their academic, personal, career and educational goals. Requires in depth knowledge of College's academic programs and policy information, as well as state and partner college and university transfer initiatives and policies to impart to students as needed. Works one-on-one and in-group advising settings. Responsible for a holistic advising approach and implementation that supports diverse learners. Advising will occur in the Student Support and Advising Center, other locations (on and off NSCC sites) and via technology . Position also serves as a representative of the Student Support and Advising Center to the College community and represents the College at state-wide and local transfer meetings.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates transfer activities and provides up-to-date transfer information on course information, scholarship information and articulation agreements to students, faculty, and staff.
Utilizes EAB Navigate and other tools to assist students with an integrated plan that considers their personal, career and educational goals with transfer opportunities. Assist students with program selection, understanding the curriculum, and making academic decisions.
Creates an education plan in EAB Navigate for and with students (i.e., initial academic plan, check-in points, and graduation plan). Will analyze and interpret student data and placement test results, advise students about degree requirements, appropriate academic course loads, course selection and special transfer opportunities at the College.
Represents NSCC at state-wide MassTransfer, Commonwealth Commitment, Reverse Transfer and Joint Admissions meetings. Report back to campus constituents and coordinate the implementation of transfer initiatives.
Serves as liaison to other colleges and assist with the smooth transfer of NSCC students to our higher education partners.
Provides referrals, as necessary, to other College offices and support services, such as Tutoring, TRIO Student Support Services, Accessibility Services, Career Services and College Pathway Programs and follow up on participation with services.
Presents workshops, information sessions, and classroom sessions relating to transfer services.
Utilize retention/enrollment reports and EAB Navigate to identify students who are nearing completion and transfer or who need additional support and advisement to ensure they stay on track.
Provide intrusive or pro-active advising to students at key times throughout the semester.
Coordinates visits by four-year college recruiters and advisors.
Assist with recruitment and enrollment events to promote transfer opportunities, such as and not limited to: orientations, open house, guidance counselor breakfasts, registration sessions, and commencement.
Provides multiple methods of advising including and not limited to: on-line advising, phone advising, in-class advising, and information sessions. Review, maintain, and update transfer information on the college's website and intranet.
Regularly input, maintain and track general student records in the Banner Student Information System and other systems being utilized by the College
Provide coordinated advising to a cohort of students specifically interested in participating in transfer opportunities within the state college system or with one of NSCC's transfer partners, as assigned.
Be innovative with technology, to include the needed skills and level of comfort needed to effectively advise and help students using ZOOM and GoogleMeet as needed.
Participate in Live Chat for the Student Support and Advising Center.
Serve on College committees and teams. Participate in College programs for professional development and advisor training.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of Student Support and Advising
SALARY: Anticipated starting salary is $56,055.00- $59,000.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement.

Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field; with five (5) years' experience and/or training involving college admissions, academic advisement, career development, or program/project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Familiarity with transfer programs, articulation agreements, and public higher education options in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Strong Working knowledge of Student Informational Systems desired. Knowledge of Banner preferred.
Working knowledge of an academic planning software product, EAB Navigate preferred.
Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
