Berwick Academy, a PK-12 coeducational day school located in Southern Maine seeks an Environmental Sustainability Coordinator/Upper School Science Teacher to join its faculty. Qualified candidates should possess a passion for and experience with environmental sustainability work, as well as the strategic, organizational, and communication skills needed to lead intentional environmental sustainability efforts on our campus. These efforts will include working with our Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools, as well as collaborating with buildings and grounds, food services, athletics, technology, and other departments at Berwick.
Strong candidates will also be capable of teaching a range of science classes in our Upper School. In addition to experience with environmental science, the ability to teach biology and/or chemistry will be of interest. We hope that this individual will offer upper level electives in these areas. Candidates should have the ability to foster positive relationships with students, a dedication to student-centered teaching, and an interest in collaboration with colleagues. Strong communication skills are also hallmarks of a successful candidate. As a member of our Upper School faculty, this individual will also be expected to serve as an advisor to students and potentially help with extracurricular activities (coaching, theater, service, clubs, etc.) Interested candidates should email resume, cover letter and contact information for three references to Ryan Feeley, Assistant Head of School.
