Vermont Academy seeks an experienced educator to teach History full-time to grades 9-12 starting in December 2020. The successful candidate will be an accomplished, innovative teacher of History with excellent interpersonal skills, organizational ability, and enthusiasm for working with adolescents. He or she will be capable of teaching core courses at the freshman through junior levels and senior electives. We seek a teacher who will be an active participant in our academic, advisory, and extracurricular programs. Teaching experience at the secondary level as well as a familiarity with the demands of a residential school community preferred. This is a full-time position. Teach five sections of history including United States History, Contemporary Issues, and AP Comparative Government
Coach or lead an activity
Participate in committee work
Serve as a dorm parent
Work on a weekend duty team in rotation
Serve as an academic advisor
A bachelor’s degree in history. A graduate degree in history or education is preferred
3-5 years of teaching high school history preferred
