Reporting to the hospital President/Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for planning and controlling all financial activities for the facility/hospital while maintaining compliance with overall policies in accordance with financial management regulatory agencies, principles, and practices appropriate for the healthcare industry and non-profit organizations. He/she serves as the financial counselor/advisor for the organization. CFO plans, organizes, and administers the institution-wide program of financial management reporting and managed care contracting to best meet the strategic objectives of the organization.
Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities:
Â·Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate financial policies, processes, function and performance
Â·Develop and provide accurate and timely operating and capital budgets, financial analysis and trends, financial statements, and reports
Â·Develop, enhance, implement, and enforce all accounting internal control policies, procedures and systems
Â·Advise on financial perspective and monitor all contract negotiations
Â·Maintain current and evaluate need for additional insurance protection to minimize risk
Â·Coordinate risk management/limit liability claims and lawsuits
Â·Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships while initiating policies, procedures, controls and strategies to enhance reimbursement and cash position
Â·Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
Â·Develop, evaluate and advise on long range financial plans, programs and strategies
Â·Participate in overall strategic planning for organization
Â·Participate in employment and performance review of finance staff
Â·Advise on financial perspective to the position control process
Â·Provide technical financial advice, guidance and knowledge to leadership team, department management and finance staff
Â·Maintain relationships with external auditor and financial consultants
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Â·Exceptional people management and leadership skills including motivating, communicating and conflict resolution
Â·Highly advanced financial skills including budgeting, analyzing, and planning
Â·Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively express ideas and views through public speaking, presentations, reports and professional correspondence
Â·Strong business acumen, intelligence, and capacity; able to think strategically and implement tactically.
Â·Approaches work as an interconnected system. Ability to understand major objectives and break them down into meaningful action steps.
Â·Strong organizational abilities and the flexibility to adjust to changing conditions and the various details of the position.
Â·Proficient computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office suite
Education, Experience, Licensure/Certification:
Â·Bachelorâ™s degree in business administration, finance or accounting; masterâ™s degree preferred
Â·Minimum of five (5) years in a senior financial management position; 10 yearsâ™ experience preferred
Â·Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
