This Milieu Counselor will be responsible for:
  • Providing one-on-one support to patients with complex needs.
  • Responsible for constant safety observation, therapeutic support and care for patients identified to be at risk to themselves, others and/or are in need of protective services.
  • Follow established policies, procedures and instructions under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in accordance with the individualized needs of the patient.
  • Observing patients for changes in behavior and/or condition, and reporting pertinent information to RN.
  • Maintaining a safe environment, accompanying patients to other departments throughout the hospital and maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
  • Assisting with Activities of Daily Living and performing vital signs as directed by the RN.
  • Completing patient care documentation and administrative duties.
  • The availability to work evenings, nights and weekends.
To qualify, you must have:
  • A High School level of education or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field preferred.
  • Six months practical experience working with youth in a group setting required.
  • Some experience in an inpatient medical/surgical or ED setting preferred.

Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
