ABOUTTHEPOSITION This position will serve as the primary staff member responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive programmatic calendar that engages a diverse student body. They will be the advisor to the Normandale Program Board, as well as other clubs as needed. They will develop and sustain robust methods of communication and marketing for Student Life, as well as create a social media presence in collaboration with other campus groups to communicate effectively with the student body. This position will have a direct impact on creating a welcoming and well-rounded experience for students resulting in increased retention, including planning Welcome Week and other engagement activities. They will also provide supervision of the Zone (Student Life area), supervise student workers, and manage appropriate budgets.
Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Psychology or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
1-2 years of experience in higher education Student Affairs
Demonstrated ability to think critically, problem solve, and multitask
Demonstrated ability to use judgement in situations involving confidentiality or crisis situations
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student communities
Experience planning events and educational programs for a diverse student body
Knowledge and experience in applying student development theory in working with student populations
Master's degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education, or other related field
2-3 years in Student Affairs program development
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once
Experience serving as a coordinator for student programming
Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed
