The Georgia Tech Career Center is looking to hire a Career Development Advisor to assist students in career planning, job search strategies, networking, and related pre-professional career development skills. Provide advice and counsel to students regarding cooperative, internship, service-learning, entrepreneurial, and other experiential learning opportunities as well as career opportunities following graduation. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Students, Faculty, Alumni, and employer representatives. Advise and assist students in identifying co-op, internship and other experiential learning opportunities as well as post-graduation career opportunities.
Confer with students individually to assist them in career skill development in such areas as establishing career plans, writing resumes and cover letters, preparing for interviews, and networking.
Present and coordinate workshops, trainings, seminars, orientations sessions, and outreach on career related subjects
Develop and teach courses and seminars on career development topics
Update and maintain student files and maintain consistent, timely, and professional correspondence with students.
Operate as liaison between Career Center and assigned college or departments.
Collect and report data in all relevant databases and systems.
Create and generate annual and other reports as requested.
Coordinate and participate fully in all programs, events, and other aspects of the Career Center, including trainings, outreach, center operations and employer relations.
Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience Five to seven years of job related experience
SKILLS This job requires advanced knowledge of cooperative education and internship program administration; academic advising and career counseling in a university setting, marketing, and participant relations. Also required are skills in customer service, data management and assessment, written and oral communication, relationship building, career related databases, systems, and other applications.
Other Required Qualifications Flexibility in on-site and virtual daily service delivery hours (due to student and/or employer schedules, project requirements).
Additional Preferred Qualifications Licensed Professional Counselor certification or a National Certified Counselor
