Posting Summary: The Dean of the College of Liberal Arts provides leadership, administration, and oversight in all activities of the College and advances the College's programs through strategic planning, program and policy development, curriculum development and review, student recruitment, and retention support. The dean is also responsible for promoting excellence in research, scholarship, and community service. Other responsibilities include: promotion, tenure, and performance reviews; professional development of students, faculty, and staff; leadership activities at the local and state levels; and enhancement of a collegial atmosphere within the College and between the College and other University units. The Dean facilitates interactions between the academic units and central administration in activities relating to programs offered by the University. The Dean is responsible for non-teaching staff who work in the College. He/She is also responsible for working in concert with departmental chairs and committees in the development and design of courses and programs. The Dean provides oversight of student advisement, recruitment, and retention. Policies that affect curriculum and faculty are developed by the Dean for submission to recommending bodies and for the approval of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and the President. The Dean also performs other duties as assigned by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and the President.
