Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Training and Consultation Specialist to be an integral part of the grant funded Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC). This position is part of the School of Health Professions, Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions. The Senior Training and Consultation Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating training and technical assistance programs and materials related to the MHTTC's mental health objectives in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
Utilizes evidenced-based approaches and develops programs and materials to increase the awareness and understanding of evidence-based mental health interventions as well as facilitate the adoption of evidence-based mental health services.
Develops, oversees, implements and administers educational training programs for the educational workforce of which includes: Teachers, School Counselors, Social Workers, Psychologists, and support staff.
Ensures prompt communication of the concerns about off-site course statues to the Director.
Assesses the training, curriculum development, and technical assistance needs of various constituents of the MHTTC and actively shares this knowledge with program staff.
Contributes to the preparation of scholarly manuscripts and presentations.
Serves as a liaison between the Program Director, Education Specialists, and course faculty.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus three (3) years experience of progressively increasing responsibility in Education/Behavioral Sciences, or in a related discipline coordinating adult-directed training or educational programs, and/or consulting with educational settings. Or a Master's Degree with two (2) years of related experience.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Strong administrative and organizational skills are required.
Knowledge of mental health services are required.
Requires an understanding of recent developments nationwide and from the research literature on mental health needs, services, and support, including work with trauma and serious mental illnesses.
This is a remote position.
Candidate should be located in Puerto Rico and/or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
