The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford is accepting applications for the Academic Advisor of the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Program . SSS is a federal TRIO program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The SSS program provides academic, career, and personal support services to eligible first-generation, low- income and/ or students with disabilities. This is a 9-month, full-time staff position subject to ongoing U.S. Department of Education funding. This position reports to the TRIO SSS Program Manager.
Duties : Responsible for delivering direct academic support services, in individual, group and classroom settings, to eligible students.
Requirements : Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, or related field from an accredited college or university. Master's degree preferred in related fields. One to two years' experience working in a TRIO federal program or similar related program/project for under-represented and at-risk college students. Experience effectively maintaining a caseload of project participants and providing them with services and activities as indicated on individual academic plans. Experience advising college students with academic and non-academic matters.
An individual with experience related to multiculturalism and/or issues related to campus diversity is of particular interest. Preference will be given to individuals who have succeeded in overcoming the disadvantages and circumstances like those of the targeted population.
Experience providing course instruction, group and workshop facilitation, counseling, and knowledge of the ADA and Section 504 preferred. Applicants must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and data-entry software and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
