Embodying Georgetown's core value of Cura Personalis, Health Education Services (HES) supports student well-being and creates healthy learning environments for individuals and the community by providing health education and caring for the WHOLE Hoya body, mind, and soul. HES seeks to empower students to take responsibility for decisions regarding their health as well as actively tries to increase community identification of students at risk. The Associate Director of Sexual Assault Response and Prevention for Diversity and Inclusion provides direct confidential health and mental health counseling clinical services to students experiencing the impact of trauma in their lives, most likely in 1:1 setting in Health Education Services. Services provided are primarily for sexual assault, interpersonal violence, and stalking. Close communication with campus partners for program development and implementation is required (expert communication and education skills are essential). The Associate Director will develop and implement new initiatives, education and training to respond to the needs of students, with a focus on outreach to marginalized communities. The incumbent will work collaboratively with other health professionals in Health Education Services, campus partners, and a variety of off campus resources. This position reports directly to the Director of Sexual Violence Response and Prevention Services within Health Education Services. Sexual violence is a common problem on college campuses, with an estimated 30% of students experiencing unwanted sexual contact. Response to students is complex work, requiring specialized trauma training and expertise and the ability to know and navigate both university as well as off-campus systems of treatment, support, and adjudication. Care provided by an experienced licensed health professional such as a Clinical Social Worker takes into account the needs of the whole person and the transaction of the person with her or his environment. Understanding the environment within which a student is functioning, the clinician can empower the student to advocate for themselves as well as facilitate connecting with other resources on campus. Outreach education and training are an essential component of this position in order to ensure that the university community is aware of resources for students. Primary prevention is enhanced by working with student groups to develop culturally relevant and promising programs that are guided by evidence based prevention strategies, best practices, and student involvement. Navigating the impact of sexual violence and other trauma is best when expert clinicians provide confidential multi-dimensional services. As a part of the work of providing inclusive and culturally relevant services to all students in both the areas of direct services and primary prevention, it's critical that an intersectional approach is implemented in both response and when developing educational strategies, trauma-informed trainings, etc. Responsibilities of the Associate Director include but are not limited to:
