We seek a dynamic individual to join the School of Drama's academic team to provide academic advising to full-time Bachelor of Fine Arts students on academic and scheduling matters. The Drama Advisor will work closely with the Associate Head to ensure effective student support, helping students navigate their degree program as they strive to achieve academic success and career goals. You will be responsible for coaching and mentoring students, meeting individually or in a group to provide advice and counsel on curriculum specific matters, college and university policies and procedures and non-academic factors affecting academic performance. Additional responsibilities will include a range of administrative tasks including but not limited to maintenance of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) academic audits, coordination and distribution of academic action notices and maintenance of the School of Drama syllabus registry.

Your primary responsibilities will include:
Meet with undergraduate students to review and manage academic progress, assist with developing academic schedules, provide in-depth information regarding course descriptions, instructors, pre-requisites, etc.
Update student status records for registration purposes, field walk-in questions regarding curriculum, graduation, registration and career paths
Monitor student records and academic progress; proactively address problems with students to resolve potential graduation requirement shortcomings
Provide support for advising done by faculty and coordinate efforts with faculty
Assess the advising process to make improvement recommendations; assist with the development of advising programs to address specific needs
Review records of students facing academic action (warning, suspension, etc.)
Coordinate further action with faculty advisor
Refer students to student counseling or health services, serving as departmental liaison as appropriate
Maintain student records, updating periodically and archiving records for withdrawn, transferred and graduated students
Communicate graduation document requirements and timeframes to students
Assist with commencement and degree certification
Demonstrate advanced interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
Bachelor's degree required
1-3 years' experience in academic counseling and advising
Excellent organizational, planning and problem solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team/group
Ability to maintain confidentiality
