Provides comprehensive and intensive enrollment and advising services to assigned caseload of current and prospective veteran and active military students. •Advises students who are Veterans, active duty or reserve service members or family members of Veterans on placement tests, academic programs and resources available for related personal issues that support student success •Assists with development of veteran specific events and content related to exploration of career and transfer goals and preparation for transfer or employment •Coordinates with Counseling and other departments to identify and implement retention strategies that will support the persistence and success of Veterans, their families and other students at the college •Assists the School Certifying Officials to submit enrollment via VA-ONCE to ensure timely, accurate payments to the students and the college Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values of Germanna Community College. •Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience •Ability to provide students with supporting career and transfer advising and accurate information about academic programs and services •Ability to work independently, in a fast-paced environment, with little supervision and work in a team •Ability to speak professionally in front of groups and conduct workshops and present in meetings •Strong organizational skills •Ability to support targeted recruiting and community outreach events •Ability to administer assessments and interpret results •Ability to consult with area agencies dedicated to support services for Veterans and others who might benefit from mental health or targeted vocational resources •Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 •Excellent oral and written communication skills •Ability and maturity to represent the college in the broader Veteranâ™s community •Ability to work withy the public, faculty, staff and students
