Engr-Office of the Dean - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (20004676)
The Executive Administrator to the Dean functions independently and serves as key advisor to the Dean in the day-to-day and strategic operations of the multi-faceted Swanson School of Engineering. Reports directly to the Dean, and works closely with the Dean and the executive leadership of the School (Department Chairs, Associates Deans and Directors). Stays abreast of daily developments and internal and external communications to the Dean, seeks further instruction when appropriate, and implements actions.
Coordinates strategic oversight activities if the leadership team - plans leadership team meetings (monthly and annual full-day retreat), sets agendas, writes meeting summaries, identifies action items, and follows up on execution. Ensures that University and School policies and deadlines are communicated and adhered to by the leadership team. Coordinates the School's planning process and annual strategic plan document. Compiles extensive summary data for the annual review of department chairs, associate deans and directors, and drafts annual review letters. Reviews promotion dossiers for completeness and drafts promotion letters.
Gathers ranking and accreditation-related data, coordinates and drafts internal and external award nominations for faculty and manages the endowed faculty award process. Submits and monitors the status of all new academic program proposals, communicate approvals to constituencies. Plans and coordinates Board of Visitors meetings and serves as laison to board members. Plans training sessions, new faculty orientation, and part-time Faculty receptions, etc. Hires, supervises and manages staff and work-study students within the Office of the Dean.
Candidate should have associate degree (B.S. degree preferred. Extensive knowledge of business English with written and verbal communication skills, experience with various computer software is required.
