AdventHealth is launching our Center for Genomic Health and a commitment to our patients and community by developing a world class program to include a Physician Medical Director, geneticists, and genetic counselors that will work in multiple specialties and service lines, starting in the Orlando area and eventually developing into our full network of care. AdventHealth has also launched the Whole Me Study, the first study of its kind in Florida, to help patients learn about traits that may impact their daily life with the idea that we could truly personalize our patients healthcare as well as help prevent, diagnose and treat serious health risks.

Collect and analyze family pedigree and patient histories regarding potential genetic diseases
Perform genetic risk calculations and educate families about potential health risks
Provide patients and their families with genetic testing and interpret the results
Develop, plan and implement evidenced-base strategies that increase the quality of care for pediatric and adult patients and ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
Support and assist with data collection for process and quality improvement
Coordinate with the Nurse Navigator regarding patient education and additional healthcare needs.
Serve as an ongoing resource for patients and families; collaborate with other providers regarding attendance to the needs of the patients; assess patient learning style and health literacy to provide effective education
Pursue funding sources for under-served patients
Develop working relationships to maximize program’s effectiveness and facilitate problem resolution across departmental, campus and physician/provider line.
Required Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling
Prior experience as a pediatric or adult genetic counselor (highly preferred)
Required Licensure, Certification, and Registration:
Board Certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or American Board of Medical Genetics in Genetic Counseling
