Master's degree with either graduate practicum experience or professional experience in collegiate academic advising or collegiate academic counseling or college administration.
Experience with Banner and UAchieve or other degree-auditing software. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly calendar and appointment scheduling via Outlook. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience with presentations and information sessions. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
80% Provide academic advising and career counseling to new, returning and transfer students by managing a caseload of students assigned by specific majors/areas of expertise. This includes:
Regularly scheduled student appointments, especially during registration and peak periods
Corresponding with students via email, phone and in-person to provide academic scheduling advice
Regular attendance at administrative meetings regarding scheduling and student success strategies
Provide connection to Dayton offices regarding math placement, technology updates and others as needed
Attending parent information nights, presentations, Open Houses, or other designated events where the areas of expertise are explained or identified, such as ceremonies for specific majors, recruitment fairs, or others as assigned.
15 % Assist students with the development of academic success strategies.
Work with the Lake Campus Student Services staff and Administration to help identify and implement opportunities to improve student success, including insight into the probation/dismissal process, probation guidelines, referrals to resources on campus and more.
5% Advise the Administration and Scheduler of course enrollments needs, such as seat numbers, section numbers and sequences, based on observations and data needed by the advisee populations. Work with program faculty and unit heads to provide consistent advising to ensure curriculum plans are being met.
Climate controlled office environment. This position is located at Lake Campus, Celina, OH. May include evening and/or weekend hours.
