Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Mental Health Clinician III for the Outpatient – New Brunswick Program at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
The Mental Health Clinician III provides culturally competent outpatient clinical services that meet the needs of the designated population. The Mental Health Clinician III participates in the assessment of clinical needs and provides focused skill acquisition and symptom management using evidence supported individual, group, and family therapy for mental health and co-occurring chemical abuse/dependency.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
As observed by the supervisor, assesses treatment needs and provides evidence based treatment in individual, group, and family therapy formats suited to the needs of the individuals served.
Identifies consumers for whom the program is not the most appropriate level of care and assists with referring to appropriate providers within UBHC or outside.
Assumes overall case management responsibilities for individuals assigned to caseload as observed by supervisor. This includes interaction with other providers and agencies as appropriate.
Maintains clinical documentation standards as mandated by UBHC policy and other applicable accreditation and certification entities as confirmed by supervisory review.
Develops and applies knowledge of trends and advancements in the field of practice as evidenced by continuing education records and supervisory observation.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Master's Degree in a Mental Health or related discipline and a New Jersey license as required by discipline.
Applicants possessing a Degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated competency in treating children, adolescents, adults and families, including those with co-occurring disorders.
Demonstrated ability to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment. Sufficient computer literacy to effectively use the electronic medical record (EMR), email, Internet/Intranet.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC).
Experience treating children.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
May be required to work at least (1) evening per week.
