FINANCIAL OFFICER , Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) and Microsystems Technology Laboratories (MTL) , to provide fiscal and operational leadership as part of MTL's and RLE's central headquarters' staff. Will serve as an advisor and primary point of contact for principal investigators (PIs) and project leaders regarding complex financial management, including pre- and post-award sponsored research administration, financial reporting and analysis, account projections, budgets, proposal development, and project close-outs; train and mentor administrative assistants (AAs) who handle financial activities; conduct compliance reviews of AA's fiscal work; ensure timely and complete reconciliation and monitoring of MTL accounts and establish and maintain processes/systems to address and prevent noncompliance; oversee payroll certification process, including communicating with PIs regarding monthly and salary distributions, personnel allocation adjustments, and suspense reconciliation; and track and ensure timely graduate research assistant appointments. Will report to MTL's administrative officer and RLE's manager for fiscal administration and collaborate will their teams to help build bridges to ensure the full integration of fiscal activities during the next one to three years.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; at least five years' related accounting or finance experience; familiarity with federal awards and guidelines; excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills; meticulous attention to detail; problem-solving, time management, and analytical skills; sensitivity with confidential information; initiative; and flexibility in a complex and changing environment. Must be able to interpret, communicate, and apply policies/procedures; collaborate with central MIT offices, faculty, and staff at all levels; prioritize; work efficiently despite frequent interruptions and competing demands; and implement and/or improve established financial processes. PREFERRED : familiarity with MIT's financial proceduresand practices; and experience with SAP, Concur, BrioQuery, and MIT's web-based financial systems. Job #18938-8
