Description: This Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Affairs position is a 12-month position that carries the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The Associate Dean will work both collaboratively and independently while reporting to the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. She/He will have leadership experience and demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects effectively and efficiently. She/He must be able to handle confidential information in the strictest manner, and deal with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff. The successful candidate must demonstrate energy, teamwork, cooperation, and genuine interest and commitment for improving academic achievement of students in the College. The candidate will be expected to teach at least one or two courses per year. Primary Function of Organizational Unit: The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) enrolls more than 1,950 students and has more than 130 faculty members. CAHSS houses the Departments of English, History, Journalism and Mass Communication, Liberal Studies, Political Science and Criminal Justice, and Visual and Performing Arts. The CAHSS Dean's Office has administrative oversight/responsibility for the six academic units and affiliated programs of the College, as well as for its faculty & staff. With an award-winning faculty, intensive research programs, and community-focused initiatives, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is the nation's largest historically black university with an enrollment of more than 12,500 students. Internal job number: 001464 Requirements: Ph.D. in a discipline/area of specialization suitable for a tenure-track appointment and at least ten years experience in higher education, with requisite administrative/leadership responsibility. Preferred: The candidate should have experience in building and managing complex academic programs, curriculum design, accreditation and assessment, exceptional interpersonal skills, and an established record of scholarly achievement in his/her area of specialization. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and should be able to interface with students, faculty, staff and other administrative offices of the University. The candidate should be able to work independently and also be a successful team player in the diverse setting that the College offers.
