Essential Functions: Warrior Vision Impact Program Junior/Senior-Level Coordinator-- Academic Success CenterThe Warrior Vision Impact Program (VIP) is a comprehensive student support program and learning community that supports the success of underrepresented and first-generation students through graduation. In partnership with a team of other Academic Success Center Coordinators and departments across the university, the Warrior VIP Junior/Senior Coordinator is responsible for the development and management of the program to ensure students' successful progression toward degree completion and their positive engagement in the university setting throughout their undergraduate experience. As part of a broader student-centered program, the Warrior VIP and the Junior/Senior Coordinator will help students strengthen the academic and personal skills necessary to successfully persist at Wayne State University and to challenge themselves as leaders beyond graduation. This is a subsidy-conditioned appointment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop programming and manage junior and senior year activities to support students as they make progress to complete their degree and prepare for graduate/professional programs, careers and other post-graduation goals. Collaborate with faculty, staff and other departments such as the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement, the Office of Student Financial Aid, Student Disability Services, the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, McNair Scholars, University Libraries, Career Services, and Alumni Relations to advance junior/senior-level VIP students to thrive intellectually and personally. Facilitate students' connection to research, career exploration, and leadership. Collaborate with the Learning Community program to provide leadership, training and ongoing professional development for approximately 30 VIP peer mentors. Establish learning outcomes and program assessments, monitor VIP student retention progress, develop graduation plans and, in collaboration with others, implement program improvements based on assessment and monitoring information. Communicate effectively and accurately academic and non-academic requirements, policies and procedures.Assess students' individual learning needs and work with appropriate campus resources to support the learning process. Assist in the marketing of services offered through the Academic Success Center. Work with the Coordinator of Warrior VIP, the Director of the Academic Success Center and departmental staff to prepare program reports. Remain informed of university and national data regarding academic retention and persistence to inform strategies to promote student success Maintain collaborative working relationships with faculty, University committees and advisors in a coordinated effort for delivery of servicesEffectively work with University systems, Banner, STARS and AdvisingWorks. Participate in University and department programming and activities.Assist with on-going needs assessments. Actively participate in national and regional programs and conferences.Perform related duties as assigned. This is a subsidy-conditioned appointment.
Qualifications: Master's Degree in Education, Counseling or related fieldExperience working in remote and online teaching and learning environments.Five years of experience in student support, development, education, or academic advising.
