The Assistant Dean for Student Financial Services at Harvard Law School (HLS) is responsible for the department's strategic direction and operational effectiveness. Administers one of the nation's largest JD financial aid programs awarding and administering institutional, federal, and private funds. Working collaboratively with leadership across HLS student services offices, ensures coordinated and effective services to over 1700 JD students. Oversees department budget, long term strategic planning and a wide range of programs including a loan repayment assistance program for graduates, Summer Public Interest Funding, need-based grant and loan assistance programs and a broad range of comprehensive financial education programs for students.
As Assistant Dean for Student Financial Services you will:
Manage, mentor and develop a team of 10 exempt and non-exempt staff members.
Supervise all aspects of the office including: comprehensive program design and delivery, compliance, security, operations and communications.
Regularly review programs and services for ongoing enhancements and efficiencies tied to student needs and changing regulations.
Develop and present workshops for students and prospective students on issues pertaining to debt, financial aid, financial planning and related topics.
Counsel students and prospective students on a wide variety of financial aid-related matters.
Oversee complex information systems ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional security regulations.
Develop annual and other reports; represent department in mandatory audit reviews;
Serve- as chair of the Law School's Financial Aid Committee and actively participates on University Financial Aid Committee.

BA with 10 years of relevant experience in financial aid and student services.
We are looking for people who have:
Experience managing professional staff in a complex, high volume, customer-driven operation; team building skills.
A strategic vision with expertise in operations and long-range planning.
A record of leadership and managerial accomplishments along with a demonstrated capacity for effective collaboration and communication with students, faculty and administrators.
Effective presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills, including in a student counseling capacity.
Experience in student information systems and project management.
