This position exists to lead and direct the College's resource development efforts with a major emphasis on private and philanthropic fundraising through the Central Lakes College Foundation and by other means to accomplish Foundation and College goals. This position is responsible for coordinating student housing with the Housing LLC and works closely with the Staples Dean and campus to coordinate and write grants to advance the college and Foundation Strategic Plan. The Executive Director reports to the President and works under the direction of the Foundation Board of Directors. The Executive Director is the primary advisor to the President on all Foundation, alumni, and fundraising initiatives, and serves on the President's Cabinet and Administrative Team. The Director will promote a culture of caring, respect and innovation.
As the Executive Director of the CLC Foundation, this person provides leadership in establishing and coordinating the activities of the Foundation at the direction of the Foundation Board. In addition, this person assists with the development of an alumni association, oversees the management of the college scholarship program, annual and planned giving, major gifts, alumni support and expansion of the endowed funds. The Executive Director takes day-to-day direction from the Foundation Board regarding Foundation Board activities and priorities, within the authorities and responsibilities outlined in the position description, Foundation Board policy, system policy and procedure, and applicable state law. The Executive Director will develop, build and maintain relationships with the area, regional, state, and national foundations that support the goals of the College and Foundation Board.
Bachelor's degree in related field;
Minimum three years prior fundraising experience with demonstrated success in soliciting, securing and cultivating outright and deferred major gifts from individuals and corporations to advance the mission of the organization or other related experience;
Demonstrated experience working within a diverse environment and promoting equity and inclusion in the workplace and community;
Experience in building and maintaining relationships with community and prospective donors;
Demonstrated supervisory experience;
Strong written, presentation and oral communication skills;
Ability to understand, manage and communicate financial information;
Excellent leadership and management skills and attention to detail, with skills in the organization of systems and aptitude for analysis of detailed data;
Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of constituents;
Knowledge of campaign management, annual giving programs, corporate and foundation relations, prospect management, alumni affairs, and media and communications;
Knowledge of the philanthropic arena in the upper Midwest area.
Comprehensive knowledge of non-profit organization financial and accounting processes and charitable giving laws such as IRS code 501c(3), IRS donation rules for both cash and non-cash donations, and/or Professional; Licensure/Certification: Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).
Advanced degree in a related field, such as Business, Marketing or Public Administration or considerable advanced coursework in related areas of study.
Successful track record of fundraising management within a complex organization, preferably during a significant campaign.
