Provide career-related assistance and support to the students of the Graduate Division and adult undergraduate students of Weekend/Evening College on the MSMU Doheny campus. Serves as a member of the Professional and Academic Resource Center (PARC) team.
Conduct advising sessions (individual and group) to improve job prospects on a walk-in and appointment basis.
Conduct workshops and classroom presentations pertaining to career preparation such as job search techniques, resume writing, interviewing and portfolio development.
Conduct career assessments (e.g. Strong Interest Inventory)
Initiate ongoing and regular contact with students concerning their career plans.
Maintain and updated PARC's LinkedIn Group for graduate and Weekend/Evening College students and alumni.
Develop and maintain career-related resources electronically and within PARC.
Collaborate with students, faculty and staff to assess needs and progress.
Participate in outreach efforts to promote awareness of PARC services.
Respond to students' requests in a timely and professional manner.
Assist in record-keeping including Center usage and confidential student session records.
Actively participate in the department's program planning and assessment efforts.
Stay current on MSMU graduate and WEC/EVE academic offerings, pertinent academic policies and services.
Keep abreast of job market trends in the various disciplines offered by the population the PARC serves.
Conduct all work in a professional manner.
Mandatory active participation in Orientation for the Graduate Division and Weekend/Evening College, and department retreats with sufficient notice.
Master's degree required.
Working knowledge of career development theory and application as they related to adult students.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse perspectives, needs, abilities and learning styles including languages and cultural issues.
Familiarity with the use of technology and/or social media for networking and job search.
Experience in career advising, higher education and/ or corporate recruitment
