Cornerstone University, an Evangelical Christian institution with over 2,800 undergraduate and graduate students, is seeking nominations and applications for a new counseling faculty position for a growing program at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. The position is classified as a full-time tenure-track faculty position with faculty rank and base salary dependent upon educational and professional qualifications and experience. In partnership with other faculty colleagues, the position supports the Master of Arts in Counseling degree program which enrolls over 150 graduate students on an annual basis both residentially and online.
Candidates shall possess a completed doctoral degree in Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP accredited institution, or have a related doctoral degree and have been employed as full-time faculty in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 2013 (CACREP 2016 Standards). Candidates must also be a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Michigan (or be eligible to obtain the counseling license in the state of Michigan), have supervision certification, evidence of successful counseling practice, be a team player with honorable relational skills, and exhibit a genuine Christian faith commitment and theological alignment with the Cornerstone Confession. Preference will be given to candidates with formal theological education, teaching experience both residentially and online, and prior experience in the supervision of counseling interns.
The successful candidate will serve as a counseling professor at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary (a graduate division of the University) which includes a full-time graduate level teaching load (residential and online) on an annual basis, servicing student advisees, providing administrative supervision to a portion of the counseling internships and practicums, contributing to assessment projects within the division, attending divisional and full-faculty meetings, and serving on at least two committees.
