The Maverick Success Program (MSP) provides success coaching and support to students admitted to the university on appeal. The MSP Maverick Success Program Advisor serves a caseload of 120-160 students. This person will provide mentoring, registration assistance, study skills support, assistance acclimating to the university, etc. He or she will be explore the needs of assigned students and provide personalized solutions, actively follow-up on flags and referrals assigned to these students. This person will contact and collaborate with other departments to assist this student cohort.
Bachelor's Degree (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application).
Demonstrated expertise supporting and problem-solving with students who are academically at-risk and have diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
One year experience in academic advising, success coaching, or in the provision of support services to students.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Developed communication and interpersonal skills necessary for advising and coaching students electronically, in one-on-one, small group and large group settings.
Demonstrated professional, student-friendly demeanor needed to build positive relationships with students, faculty and staff.
Demonstrated presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to learn new information quickly and to interpret information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work individually and as a team.
Experience with various computer applications and web technology.
Demonstrated success providing proactive study skills and other support to students who may be academically at-risk.
Demonstrated success assisting students acclimate to university life.
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
