Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) is seeking Coordinator of Dual Enrollment for the John H. Daniel Campus. SVCC is an accessible, comprehensive, public, two-year institution of higher education that serves approximately 183,000 residents from the counties of Brunswick, Buckingham (partial), Charlotte, Cumberland, Greensville, Halifax (partial), Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, and Prince Edward, and the city of Emporia. Ours is the largest community college service region in the state with a coverage area of approximately 4,200 square miles. The Coordinator reports to the Special Assistant to the Vice President for Academic and Workforce Programs; responsibilities include: Provides vision and leadership in planning, development, implementation, management, supervision, and evaluation of the SVCC Dual Enrollment program; Develops and monitors implementation of SVCC DE program goals; Develops and manages program budget; Attends VCCS meetings/trainings, professional development workshops and represents the college at the VCCS Dual Enrollment meetings; Ensures the SVCC DE program meets all VCCS & SACS guidelines as well as the "Governing Principles for Dual Enrollment between Virginia's Public Schools and Community Colleges" and the VCCS Quality Standards for Dual Enrollment as mandated by the VCCS and VDOE; Works with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness to ensure compliance with SACS and to provide necessary information for reporting purposes; Partners with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness to generate statistical data as it relates to transfer success, student/parent satisfaction, student work placement etc.; Supervises Assistant Coordinator for DE; Liaison among public school division Superintendents, School Boards, private school partners, other stakeholders and SVCC; Attends Region 8 Superintendent meetings; Coordinates classroom observation visits & course syllabi reviews; Oversees graduation process as it pertains to DE; Provides up-to-date information to SVCC's Webmaster for placement on the website; Ensures DE courses are using college texts, meeting contact hours, maintaining rigor and meeting course content requirements; Accurately and efficiently prepares bills and teacher contracts for designated school divisions; Manages formal Dual Enrollment contracts for designated divisions and submits to VCCS when complete; Prepares overload appeals for the Special Assistant to the VP for Academic and Workforce Programs; Coordinates the development and timely updates of DE Adjunct handbook, parent/student handbook and division handbook; Evaluates retesting appeals and determines appropriate actions; Refers adjunct paperwork to appropriate Academic Deans for credentialing; Monitors hiring process for DE adjuncts; Collaborates with Academic Deans to ensure course content, learning outcomes and rigor are being achieved; Works collaboratively with school divisions to determine DE program needs and areas of development; Provides orientation and ongoing professional development for part-time and high school DE adjuncts to ensure consistency of the program at all sites; Cooperatively works with the Dual Enrollment Coordinator for sister campus to provide orientation and ongoing professional development for Dual Enrollment administrative staff to ensure consistency of the program across both campuses; Participates in various meetings, conferences, special events and board meetings; Prepares and delivers presentations to increase stakeholders understanding and use of the DE program ; Assesses SVCC's DE program as it aligns with VCCS Dual Enrollment Quality Standards requirements; Partners with the Special Assistant to the VP for Academic and Workforce Programs to achieve the goals of College and the VCCS as they relate to the DE program; And performs other duties as assigned by the Special Assistant to the Vice President for Academic and Workforce Programs.
•Master's Degree in Education or a related field. •Knowledge of college admission policies, procedures, and programs of study including advising. •2 years of K-12 teaching or K-12 administrative experience. •Demonstrated leadership and management ability. •Knowledge of student information systems with ability to record and access information./br> •Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing and in a timely and professional manner with a diverse group of stakeholders to include college personnel, high school administrators, faculty, guidance counselors, and high school students and parents. •Knowledge and understanding of the community college mission, particularly as it relates to dual enrollment and student support services. •Ability to meet deadlines and complete work requirements with effective problem solving techniques and accuracy. •Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to solve simple and complex problems. •Knowledge of and experience using basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant technology resources and ability to learn new technologies as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. •Ability to use a variety of software programs including configuring and interpreting data and spreadsheets. •Demonstrated ability to read and interpret basic technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, etc. •Requires the ability to have a high degree of organization with attention to detail and accuracy with specific attention to preparation of forms and reports. •Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team. •Demonstrated ability to interpret and explain complex rules and regulations and/or respond to routine inquiries regarding enrollment services functions such as admissions and registration.
