The goal of the ASD Nest Support Project (a.k.a. ASD Nest Program) is to advance the development and implementation of educational solutions for children living with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Hosted by NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, The ASD Nest Support Project provides training, professional development, and on-site consultation for teachers, therapists, and administrators, as well as workshops and a newsletter for ASD Nest parents. Other activities include research, presentations at national professional organizations, and articles and other publications on relevant topics.

The ASD Nest Support Project is looking for an experienced professional with a background in business development, strategy, and operations to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team. In collaboration with senior leadership and the team at-large, the Director of Strategy and Operations will be responsible for developing a framework for scaling the program in a responsible and sustainable manner, and creating profit-generating opportunities that leverage existing products, services, markets and infrastructure. The Director of Strategy and Operations will take the lead on innovating the program's internal management, prioritizing yearly optimization projects, and developing standardized business processes. S/he will be responsible for liaising with central University offices, managing the day-to-day operations, managing requests for proposals, overseeing the program's IT infrastructure, as well as helping to build the team and uphold the organization's culture which values inclusion, strengths, and celebration of difference.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Strategic planning and business development
In collaboration with the team, clarify the business strategy, goals, objectives, and desired outcomes
Work in collaboration with project directors and team to develop short- and long-term strategic plans
Explore opportunities to scale ASD Nest with an eye towards sustainability and impact
Define, track, and report on Key Performance Metrics
Build-out, oversee, and optimize internal operations; engage in Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles to continuously revisit and refine systems
Document standard operating procedures; ensure adherence
Promote data-driven decision making; conduct market research to inform strategic planning
Identify new revenue streams including implementing a fee-for-service business model and opportunities for outside funding
Develop relationships with like-minded community partners
Interface with NYU offices such as the Office of General Counsel, Human Resources, Procurement, Program Services, IT, and Finance
Understand the business need for IT systems and software that will promote efficient internal operations; research, vet and secure IT systems
Manage Requests for Proposals
Participate in routine budget meetings; contribute towards the development of yearly budgets and capital improvement projects
Interface with NYU ATS (Academic Technology Support) and coordinate running of online courses and trainings
Manage the logistics and oversee the execution of ASD Nest's yearly conference (NestCon)
Develop a business plan
Collaborate with team to outline 1-3-5 year goals
Conduct market research to identify values for current partners and potential opportunities
Outline tiered pricing model for in-person, distance, asynchronous support services
Identify and implement IT systems to maximize efficiency
Act as liaison between Nest and NYU ATS to coordinate online trainings
Define community partnership relationship
Outline the role and build the members of an ASD Nest Advisory Board
Oversee the logistics and execution of annual conference, NestCon
Masters Degree in Business/Management (MA/MBA/MPA) with extensive experience in operations, business development, business strategy, market research, and communications
